Inspired to Teach is a scholarship and incentive program specifically for Oklahoma college students who want to become certified teachers in Oklahoma public schools. Qualified students can earn scholarships and employment incentives of up to $25,500 for completing an approved teacher education degree program and teaching in an Oklahoma public school.
• As a full-time student at a participating college or university, you can earn a $1,000 scholarship per year for up to three academic years and a $2,500 scholarship in the final academic year, for a total of up to $5,500.
• Following graduation, you agree to teach in an Oklahoma public school (pre-K through 12th grade) for five consecutive years. After securing a standard teaching contract, you could receive a $4,000 award for each year of satisfactory teaching service for up to five years, for a total of up to $20,000 in employment incentives.

To qualify for an Inspired to Teach scholarship:
Be enrolled as a full-time (12 credit hours per semester) undergraduate student each semester of eligibility in the program.
Graduate from high school, homeschool, or earn a GED.
Meet higher education admission standards at:
1) a public or private Oklahoma university with an accredited Oklahoma teacher education program, OR
2) a community college with an approved Inspired to Teach articulation agreement with an accredited Oklahoma university teacher education program.
Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and a minimum 2.5 GPA throughout matriculation.
Prior to entry into the Inspired to Teach program, you must agree to complete the Oklahoma teacher preparation education program and teach in an Oklahoma public prekindergarten through 12th grade (PK-12) school for a minimum of five (5) consecutive years upon graduation and licensure as a teacher.
Declare a major in an accredited Oklahoma university teacher education program with a degree leading to a standard teaching certificate, or declare a major at a community college with an approved Inspired to Teach articulation agreement with an accredited Oklahoma teacher education program leading to a standard Oklahoma teaching certificate.

Paid Student Teaching
Students completing a student teaching internship through an accredited Oklahoma college or university teacher preparation program can receive a $1,625 stipend. Upon completing your degree, earning a standard teaching certificate, and beginning your teaching career in an Oklahoma public school district, you can receive an additional $1,625.
Eligible mathematics education and science education majors who complete their teacher preparation degree at an accredited Oklahoma college or university; apply to the program prior to graduating; receive their standard teaching certificate; and teach secondary math and/or science for a consecutive five years will receive a stipend to assist with student loan repayment.
Inspired to Teach can be combined with other forms of aid, such as the federal Pell grant, the Oklahoma’s Promise scholarship, and/or institutional scholarships and grants, provided your aid awarded doesn’t exceed your federal cost of attendance as defined by the U.S. Department of Education.
